◊ ABOUT
CHINESE MEDICINE
Chinese
Medicine aims to restore natural balance and function to the body.
It is not only used to treat disease but is also directed at health
maintenance. It is an efficient health system with a history of
over 3000 years.
Rather than
focusing on only treating a specific disease, Chinese Medical
practitioners consider relationships between symptoms and a
person’s overall health, thus treating the person as a
whole.
In order to
assist with optimising individual health and lifestyle needs along
with reducing stress levels, each treatment aims at providing the
body’s own ability to maintain equilibrium and general
wellbeing.
◊ DIAGNOSIS
In
determining a pattern of disharmony a detailed understanding of
lifestyle, diet, work, medical history, emotional wellbeing etc is
necessary. The diagnosis can include discussion, observation, and
examination. What is being sought are not symptoms in isolation but
rather how they combine to form a complete picture.
◊ CONSULTATION
An initial
consultation lasts from 60 to 75 minutes. The initial consultation
is used to discuss your health and treatment options. Tongue
condition and Pulse will also be observed.
Following
sessions usually last 45 to 60 minutes and include a review of your
health and modification of treatment according to your
condition.
The number of
treatments vary for each individual. Cosmetic
Acupuncture treatments usually benefit from several sessions
consecutively.
◊ ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture
is a system of medicine where fine needles are placed under the
skin in order to treat a problem or disease. It does this by
stimulating acupoints and moving the Qi within the body.
Qi is unknown
in Western medicine but in simple terms is the vital energy of the
body. It helps keep the blood circulating, warms the body and
fights disease. It flows through a series of channels forming a
network within the entire body and links all functions together so
they work as a whole. When a person is healthy the Qi moves freely
through these channels, but if for some reason the flow is blocked,
too weak, or too strong then illness can occur.
Needling is
relatively painless and gentle and is carried out by sterile
procedure. Disposable needles are used and nothing is injected into
the skin. The needles are fine and are the thickness of a few
strands of hair. When inserted into specific acupoints the needles
can stimulate and promote blood circulation in the body this can
remove pain and stagnation in the tissues. It can also stimulate
the internal organs and assist in recovery from illness or
injury.
◊ COSMETIC
ACUPUNCTURE
Cosmetic
Acupuncture is a natural non-invasive way to rejuvenate and refresh
your skin, face, and body. It was first practiced in China
thousands of years ago and used by ancient Chinese royalty to
prolong youthfulness. Cosmetic acupuncture can improve beauty and
radiance of the skin whilst also addressing inner
health.
Visible signs
of aging occur when the circulation of blood and lymph in the skin
decreases. Thus in turn the skin and underlying muscles become
depleted from a lack of nourishment causing a lack of moisture,
firmness, tone, and elasticity. Each treatment is aimed at
restoring balance and circulation of the blood and lymph to address
these conditions.
Cosmetic
Acupuncture can address the following conditions: fine lines,
wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, acne, pigmentation, dull or dry
skin. This treatment can also have an added benefit by addressing
any underlying health issues allowing a complete healing
experience.
◊ CHINESE
HERBAL MEDICINE
Chinese
Herbal Medicine involves prescriptions tailored to individual
diagnosis. Herbs can be taken in pill form or granules, there are
taken in the form of a tea. The formulas are often modified on each
visit to suit your presenting condition.
◊ MOXIBUSTION
This is a
warming Chinese herb that is used above the skin to assist in
promoting circulation or tonification and provides comfort to the
body.
◊ GUA
SHA
Using a small
porcelain instrument and applying pressure to the skin, Gua Sha can
stimulate blood flow and circulation to a specific point or area of
the body promoting circulation and relieving tension.
◊ CUPPING
Cupping
provides relief from muscle tension or pain. Traditional glass cups
are placed onto the skin and create a pressure that can stimulate
circulation.
◊ DIETARY
THERAPY & HEALTH MAINTENANCE
Chinese
dietary therapy can outline a plan for you health condition or
wellbeing according to your constitution and advise of which foods
are nutritious and which should be avoided.
